Pandemic Response: The year 2020 threw us a huge curveball and we’ve all had to adapt to a vastly changed world. That included the CPE’s plans for our biennial, in-person gathering of progressive educators, originally scheduled for the fall of 2020, and now moved to January 23, 2021. With the change in date has come a change in format (to virtual, shorter duration, and free of charge) as well as a change in focus. Here, then, is an invitation to our re-imagined CPE Winter Institute 2021

Polarization or Polarity? Moving Beyond Binary Thinking

Recent times have shown us that “either/or” binary thinking can cause significant tensions in communities large and small. Our school communities and classrooms, our teachers, students, parents, and trustees, are not spared such challenges. The superficially binary tensions that exist in our school span a wide range of foci, including change and stability, diversity and inclusion, work and home, privilege and access, pull out and push in. Join our acclaimed Keynote Speaker Rosetta Lee as we examine existing tensions and learn how to use a powerful tool to move beyond binary thinking. When incorporated into our practice, this tool can lead to more productive conversations and positive actions to address the challenges we face.
